Taller Men Receive More Education
According to a new study, taller men end up with more education than shorter men.
Writing in the latest issue of the “International Journal of Epidemiology”, researchers at Stockholm’s Karolinska Institute and Uppsala University say they measured the height of 950,000 conscripts at age 18, and followed up later to see what level of education they attained. After taking into account geography, parents’ socioeconomic position, and other factors, they found that the taller the men, the more education.
The relationship even holds up for brothers who have grown up in identical circumstances. The researchers say this may be a matter of discrimination, that shorter people defer to taller.
