Snowfall clearing - but lower temperatures ahead

The area of snowfall that has blanketed southern Sweden over the last two days will move away across the Baltic today - giving a clear and cold night for most of the country.

However, temperatures in the north tonight are expected to drop to below minus 20 degrees celsius.

Its a mixed outlook for the weekend - but overcast weather looks set to dominate.

Taking a look at the noonday temperatures in the regional centres:

In the capital is was..........-2 C

Gothenburg..........0 C 

Malmö..........3 C                 

Kiruna..........-5 C

Sunrise in Stockholm was is 7:39 AM

And sunset is 16:29 PM
