Immigration Keeps Population Up
Statistics Sweden reports that at the end of last year the population of this country had risen to 9,047,752.
That’s an increase of 35,360, and marks the eighth year in a row that the population of Sweden has increased. The rise is attributed to immigration, which went up by 5 percent last year to 65,229. That marked the largest number of immigrants to this country since 1994.
The population of Stockholm, Sweden’s largest city, rose by just under 6000 to 771,038. Gothenburg now has a population of 484,942, while there are 271,271 inhabitants in Malmö.
