Ship Captain Arrested After Running Aground

The Latvian captain of a freighter that ran aground in southern Sweden has been arrested.

Police say the captain is suspected of being drunk when the Antiguan-flagged ship ran into shallows 25 meters from the Swedish coast early Wednesday. The freighter was carrying 33,000 metric tons of fertilizer.

There have been no reports of injuries to the crew of 10 or fuel or oil leaks.
