Turin Sweden’s Best Ever
For Sweden it’s been the country’s best ever Winter Olympics.
A look over the past week and the Swedish women may have been beaten by the Canadians in the ice hockey finals Monday, but the women clinched the curling crown Thursday in a closely fought final defeating Switzerland 7-6.
On Wednesday Björn Lind gave Sweden its third cross country skiing gold medal of the Turin Olympics. Lind won the men’s individual sprint, ahead of France’s Roddy Darragon.
24 year old Anja Pärson won her longed-for first Olympic gold medal in the women’s slalom Wednesday, despite thick fog and an injury. But on Friday she only managed sixth place in the giant slalom - the final women’s Alpine event of the Turin Olympics. America’s Julia Mancuso got gold. But all was not lost for Sweden as Anna Ottosson , with a big second run, took bronze.
