New trend: Start your own political party

Published torsdag 2 mars 2006 kl 11.57

A record 237 local and national political  parties have registered for Sweden’s parliamentary elections in September.

Observers say this large number and the great diversifcation of themes indicates that the established parties are not covering the needs and demands of special-interest groups.

Election authorities are also speculating that the new interest in starting your own party might be being driven by the attention given to a number of high profile small parties that have announced they will field candidates in this years election.
