Another Swede Dies In Avalanche

Another Swede has died in an avalanche, bringing the recent death toll to four .

In the latest tragedy, a 19 year old Swede , on holiday in Val D’Isere in the French Alps, was swept away as he skied off piste in deep powder. Two friends managed to free themselves from the snowslide and raise the alarm. An america skier died in a separate avalanche.

Val D’Isere had posted avalanche warnings across the resort in several languages, warning skiers not to go off piste.

On Sunday, a 24 year old Swede died in hospital in Innsbruck in Austria after becoming trapped under an avalanche. 45 people have now died in France’s Alps and Pyrenees mountains this winter. All deaths have occurred off the marked runs.
