Hackers Not Welcome Here
After being early adopters in using the Internet, Swedes are also reportedly learning to protect themselves from some of its hazards.
In a new report, the National Post and Telecom Agency says eight out of ten Swedes use anti-virus programs. That’s up from 53 percent when the agency first studied the problem in 2002.
But the report expresses concern over the lack of firewalls to protect home computers and networks from outside intruders. While the number has risen from 23 percent in 2002 to 64 percent last year, that still means that one-third of computers here are unprotected.
