New Swedish Program to Combat Discrimination

Published tisdag 14 mars 2006 kl 13.24
Minister for Integration Jens Orback

The Swedish government has presented an extensive plan to help combat discrimination and resulting violence, abuse and harassment.

The Minister for Integration and Gender Equality issues, Jens Orback, says this should be an effective tool against violence and harassment of women.

He adds that those cafés and restaurants in Sweden which refuse entrance to immigrants and refugees should be threatened with the loss of their licenses – and that it should be made clear that discrimination should be costly for the perpetrator.
