World’s Biggest Biogas Plant to be Built

Published fredag 17 mars 2006 kl 12.46

Swedish energy company Göteborg Energi has announced that it will build the world’s biggest biogas plant with a capacity of 1,600 cubic metres per hour.

According to company officials, the plant is to be completed in December, and at full capacity will be able to produce enough clean fuel to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 15,000 tons per year.

Chief Executive Hans Malm said demand for clean fuel for cars was such that five more biogas plants could be built in Sweden over next five years, adding that there is also growing interest for biogas production in France and Germany.
