Carola was Invincible

Published lördag 18 mars 2006 kl 21.58

The highly favored Carola Häggkvist won Saturday night’s Swedish final for the Eurovision Song Contest with the song ”Invincible” (in Swedish ”Evighet”).

Carola first competed in the Eurovision contest in 1983 at the age of 16, and after finishing fourth, came back to win the EBU event in 1991 (with ”Captured by a Lovestorm”).

She’ll be representing Sweden at the Eurovision contest this year in Athens in May.

This year’s Estonian entry, Sandra Oxenryd, is also Swedish.

Athens is hosting the competition following the victory of Helena Paparizou, born and raised in Sweden by Greek parents,  in the 2005 contest.
