Turning to sports, at the World Cup finals in Åre, Sweden Sunday, overall champ and double Olympic gold medalist Benjamin Raich helped Austria to victory in the first ever mixed team event.

The United States came second, while Sweden finished third in a competition comprised of four super-G heats followed by four in the slalom.

Also in Åre, Janica Kostelic reclaimed the overall World Cup title from Sweden’s Anja Persson after gathering a record number of points.

Turning to golf:  Sweden’s Johan Edfors clinched the title at the 1 million dollar TCL Classic in China Sunday.  Edfors, whose previous best performance was a tie for ninth at the Madrid Open in 2004,  fended off Australian Andrew Buckle for a one-stroke victory.  The win couldn’t have come at a better time, either;  the 30-year-old has been struggling to keep his playing card on the European tour, but the win gives him a two-year exemption to play on the Tour.
