Long-term sick not getting timely rehabilitation

Published måndag 20 mars 2006 kl 11.09

Swedes who are suffering from long-term illnesses that keep them out of work are not getting the rehabilitation they need.

According to a new report from the Swedish Social Insurance Administration, just 5 percent receive help in the first three months, 23 percent during the first year and half after one year.  Top officials call the report alarming and embarrassing, and some critics say the focus is on paying compensation rather than on getting care to those in need.
