Major Program for Wind Power
The opposition Center Party has joined with the government in a new agreement on energy that includes a major effort to develop wind power.
The Left Party, which supports the minority Social Democrat government in parliament, is also supporting the plan. This includes more than 40 million dollars for in a pilot wind power project. Under the plan around 12 percent of Sweden’s energy would be provided by renewable sources in ten years.
The Center Party first crossed the political left-right divide in 1997 to reach agreement with government on an energy program.
