Major Delays After Train Accident

Published torsdag 30 mars 2006 kl 11.47

Major delays are expected on Sweden’s railways Thursday after a train accident in south central Sweden yesterday.

A commuter train from Linköping, with some 80 passengers on board, derailed after hitting timber that had fallen off a cargo train.

Some 70 passengers were taken to the hospital, but according to police, all except one have been sent home.

It’s not clear what kind of injuries the remaining passenger has, but they are not life threatening.

According to Banverket, the Swedish rail network, rail traffic should be back to normal on Friday.
