Memorial for Swedish Victims of Baghdad Bombing
Two Swedes were among the dozens of dead when two bombs went off at Baghdad’s Burath mosque during Friday prayers.
At least 79 people died, including a Swedish man of Iraqi origin and his 6 year old son. Several more Swedes, mostly children, are among the injured. They are reported to be in stable condition.
Several hundred people attended a memorial Saturday at the mosque in Järfälla, north of Stockholm.
Acting Swedish Foreign Minister Carin Jämtin has condemned the attack, and called on Iraq’s political leaders to create a government which can deal with the growing violence in the country.
