Arson at 200 Schools in 2005

Published onsdag 12 april 2006 kl 10.54

Swedish Radio News reports that last year more than 200 fires were set at Swedish schools.

That’s a 50 percent increase since 1997, and experts say the total damage amounts to almost 40 million dollars a year.

A city official in Nyköping, where an entire school was destroyed by arson, says they would have preferred to spend the cost of rebuilding on improving the quality of instruction.
