Less Accidents Than Usual Over Easter

Published tisdag 18 april 2006 kl 11.31

At least 9 people lost their lives in traffic accidents during the long Easter holiday weekend.

The worst incident was a head-on collision between two cars on Good Friday, which cost 5 lives, including two children. Another child was injured in the crash, but is reported in stable condition after an operation on at Uppsala University Hospital.

The traffic authorities say such serious accidents are unusual today, since car safety features have improved in recent years. While the number of deaths was higher this year, the authorities say the overall number of accidents was less than usual during the long weekend.
