On a visit to Sweden, Norway’s foreign minister said Monday that a planned meeting next month between members of his staff and Hamas representatives will go ahead.

Jan Gahr Støre told reporters here that the talks will be held despite pressure from the United States. The two Hamas representatives, who are on the Palestinian Legislative Council, are coming to Norway on May 15th, at the invitation of the Norwegian Palestinian Committee.

In a joint news conference with his Swedish counterpart Jan Eliasson, the Norwegian foreign minister said his government has not invited Hamas to Norway, but if they come there, they will meet them.
