Samples from Dead Dolphins

Published onsdag 3 maj 2006 kl 11.32

Test samples from hundreds of dolphins who died in the Indian Ocean have been sent to Sweden for analysis.

Preliminary investigations have failed to explain why more than 600 of the marine mammals left their deep offshore habitat, and washed up dead on Zanzibar’s northern coast. Theories range from oil pollution to sonar from submarines.

The samples have been sent to the Zoology Department at the University of Stockholm, which has a bilateral marine science program with Tanzania.
