Swedes Favor Renewable Energy

Published tisdag 9 maj 2006 kl 11.20

A new study indicates that Swedes want to see more solar and wind energy here.

The survey was conducted by the SOM institute at Gothenburg University. Seventy-eight percent of those questioned want more solar energy, while 72 percent favour more wind power, and 54 percent would like to see more production of bio-fuels.

Previous studies from the same institute have indicated that a majority of Swedes now want to keep nuclear power. But according to the new survey, the preferred energy sources here are, in order: water, wind, and solar, then nuclear, bio fuels, natural gas, coal, and oil.
