Swedish Radio News reports that a Swedish diplomat has been kicked out of Russia.

The move is said to have been in response to the arrest in February of a Russian botanist here for espionage. The Russian was accused of providing information about Swedish research and personal information about scientists here to the Russian embassy in Stockholm.

After two months in jail he was released when prosecutors said national security had not been threatened. But he was denied a residence permit and had to leave the country.

Sweden has reportedly protested against the expulsion of the diplomat from Moscow, which Swedish Radio News says happened several weeks ago.
