Xenophobe Party Exploited Google Ads

Published måndag 29 maj 2006 kl 11.31

The xenophobic Sweden Democrat Party has reportedly gotten its message onto unsuspecting websites by taking advantage of the search engine Google’s advertising system.

By paying for advertisements in Google’s popular Adwords, the Sweden Democrats have gotten their message and links to their website placed at random on homepages taking part in the system.

Two of the sites in question have been newspapers in southern Sweden, where the Sweden Democrats and other parties accused of neo-Nazi sympathies have much of their support. Google says the ads were a mistake, and they have now been removed from the Adwords system.
