Aid to Java Earthquake Victims
Sweden has pledged just under one million dollars in aid to victims of Saturday’s earthquake in Java.
Most is going to the Swedish Red Cross to support international efforts to provide food, water, and shelter. The Swedish Rescue Services are sending help with telecommunications and are setting up a field headquarters for relief organizations on behalf of the United Nations.
More than 5800 are known to have died in the earthquake, which measured 6.3 on the Richter scale.
