Man Shot Dead by Police

Published måndag 12 juni 2006 kl 10.56

Swedish police shot dead a man at the weekend when he threatened two officers with a knife.

The police were called to a health center in Falkenberg, in southern Sweden, on Saturday to subdue a 33 year old man who was behaving aggressively. When he brandished a knife, the officers first used pepper spray, and when that was ineffective, one shot him three times. He later died of his injuries.

He is only the 13th person killed by the Swedish police in the past ten years. An investigation has been launched into the shooting.
