Estonia Film to be Reviewed
Sweden’s National Laboratory of Forensic Science is to examine divers’ films from the 1994 Estonia shipwreck.
Sustainable Development Minister Mona Sahlin told parliament Monday that the purpose of the viewing is to make sure that the films, made by divers in 1994 and 1996, support the conclusions of the international inquiry commission about the cause of the accident.
The commission blamed the disaster, which claimed more than 850 lives, on faulty bow door locks in a storm. Skeptics have suggested that an explosion might have been involved.
