Hard to Find Local Candidates
Swedish Radio News reports that virtually all political parties here are having a hard time fielding candidates for many local councils in this September’s elections.
Of the seven parties in parliament, only the ruling Social Democrats are running in all of Sweden’s 290 municipalities. The Greens, on the other hand, so far have no candidates for 66 local councils, and the Left have no lists for 33 municipalities.
The four parties of the center-right opposition alliance are in better shape, with no registered candidates for at most 9 local councils.
