Ban on Online Ads for Kids?

Published onsdag 5 juli 2006 kl 11.16

According to a new survey, 72 percent of Swedes would like to ban advertising aimed at children on the Internet.

The study has been carried out for the Swedish Consumers Association, which says that children have to be protected as consumers even online.

There is already a similar law against television advertising aimed at children. But since most of the commercial Swedish channels broadcast from outside the country, they are exempt.

It’s hard to see what would prevent a website with advertising for children from moving to servers in another country.
