Rich-looking Swedes given easier time at customs
It is claimed people who look poor are much more likely to be stopped from bringing in alcohol.
Sweden’s biggest national newspaper, Dagens Nyheter, quotes a senior prosecutor as saying that the more well-off someone is, the more chance they will be believed that the drink is for their own use.
Since 2004 there are no official limits as to how much alcohol people can bring in, as long as they are not planning to sell it.
Strong alcohol in Sweden is expensive and is only legally sold in government-controlled shops.
