Pirate Party Larger than Greens

Published tisdag 8 augusti 2006 kl 11.05
The Pirate Party

Sweden’s Pirate Party, which was formed by the Pirate Bay to promote free file-sharing ahead of this September’s election, now has 7,729 members.

This makes the newly established party larger than the Green Party, which in comparison only has 7,249 members.

Most of the members, at 7,088, are men, and a greater majority were born between 1980 and 1988.

One of the reasons for the success is believed to be the simplicity of joining; by sending a text message to the party at a cost of less than US 70 cents.
