Problem at Forsmark Located

The Forsmark power station, north of Stockholm

After tests carried out in Germany, the cause of last weeks electrical problems at the Forsmark nuclear power plant are believed to have been found.

Authorities do not want to comment on exactly what the problem was until all the analysis is complete, but it’s now hoped that the shut down reactors should be able to restart soon.

Last week an electricity fault at the Forsmark plant north of Stockholm led to two reactors being shut down, after generators which should have kicked-in to power systems failed.

Computers were affected, and it was the most serious incident ever at a nuclear plant in Sweden.

The tests were carried out in Germany because the parts which are supposed to prevent power failures are produced there.
