World Water Week Opens: Call for Radical Action

Published måndag 21 augusti 2006 kl 11.16

As World Water Week opened in Stockholm Monday, scientists called for radical action to improve global water management.

A new report from the Sri Lanka-based International Water Management Institute, drawing on contributions from more than 700 experts, says more efficient use of the world’s water resources is needed to reduce poverty and environmental damage. According to the report, one person in three around the world is enduring some form of water scarcity.

More than 1500 experts from some 140 countries and United Nations agencies are here for World Water Week.
