Rain Causes Flooding in South

Published måndag 28 augusti 2006 kl 11.24

Heavy rain caused problems Sunday on both the southwest coast and the southeast coast.

According to the Swedish Weather Service, 57 millimeters fell during a 12 hour period in Gothenburg. Cellars flooded, public transportation came to a halt, and a major road tunnel closed.

There were similar problems in Valdemarsvik on the east coast, as around 50 houses were flooded by rising rivers.
