Opposition leader bookies favourite for PM
The leader of Sweden’s Moderate Conservatives has the best odds to become the next prime minister.
Last week it was a dead heat, but now Fredrik Reinfeldt is edging ahead of the current Prime Minister Göran Persson.
Meanwhile, with just over two weeks to go to Sweden’s general election, a new opinion poll suggests the ruling Social Democrats are losing ground to the non-socialist opposition alliance.
The Social Democrats are down 4.9 percentage points to 35.5 per cent, while the alliance is 2.9 per cent ahead of them.
