Manslaughter Convictions Upheld

Published tisdag 5 september 2006 kl 11.39

An appeals court has upheld the convictions of a woman and her husband for the death of the woman’s 10 year old mentally handicapped son.

The court upheld their ten year sentences for manslaughter, and did not accept the prosecutor’s case to convict the mother and step-father for murder. The case attracted widespread attention here in Sweden when it was alleged the boy had been tortured to death.

The 10 year old’s body was found dumped in a frozen lake in southern Sweden in February.
