Soccer Stars Apologize

Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Olof Mellberg

Following their expulsion from the national team for a curfew violation, three Swedish soccer stars say they regret they broke the rules.

After Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Olof Mellberg, and Christian Wilhelmsson were out until 1:00 AM to celebrate Mellberg’s birthday, they were taken off the team roster for Wednesday’s European Championship qualifier against Liechtenstein.

Despite the apologies, however, there have been press reports the three plan to boycott the national team, because of dissatisfaction with coach Lars Lagerbäck.
