No Apparent Anorexia-Pregnancy Link
Swedish researchers say a history of anorexia does not appear to be associated with complications during pregnancy or giving birth.
Dr. Cecilia Ekeus and colleagues from Stockholm’s Karolinska Institute analyzed data on more than 827,000 first time Swedish mothers between 1973 and 1996. Infants of anorexic mothers weighted slightly less, but the researchers conclude the outcome of the pregnancy may be just as good.
Their work is published in the medical journal “BJOG”.
