Contradictory Stories on "Liberalgate"

Published tisdag 12 september 2006 kl 12.00

Swedish Radio News reports that those involved in the scandal over illegal intrusions into the Social Democrat party’s internal computer network are telling different stories.

Liberal Party Secretary Johan Jakobsson, who was forced to resign over the scandal, has claimed that when he found out about the snooping last March, he told the Young Liberal official involved to stop and to confess what he had done to a journalist.

But, speaking to Swedish Radio News, the reporter involved says he was told he was given the secret login information so he could get information to discredit the Social Democrats. Swedish Radio News also says the Young Liberal official who gave the journalist the information told the same story in his police interrogation, that the intention was to hunt for scandals about the ruling party.
