Soccer Violence in Stockholm

Published onsdag 27 september 2006 kl 11.01

Violence broke out in Stockholm Tuesday night following a soccer game between cross town rivals AIK and Hammarby.

A gang of youths threw rocks at police. Twenty-four who were taken into custody were released Wednesday morning. According to press reports, there were several hundred young people involved in the disturbances.

Hammarby won the game 2-0, and the police say they believe the trouble-makers were mostly AIK supporters.
