Reinfeldt Makes Traditional Visit to Finland

On Sunday Sweden’s new prime minister Fredrik Reinfeldt made his first foreign visit, as is customary, to neighboring Finland.

The tradition underlines the two countries’ long and close relationship, as well as their similar positions on many European Union issues. But Reinfeldt also had to fend off repeated questions from journalists about the resignation of his foreign trade minister the day before.

Finland currently holds the rotating European Union presidency, and Reinfeldt will be returning there on Friday for an EU summit.
