Swedes and Finns in Scotland Peace Protest

Published onsdag 18 oktober 2006 kl 11.48
A 2005 protest at Faslane

Forty-two peace protesters from Sweden and Finland have been arrested in western Scotland, after blockading a nuclear naval base.

As home to submarines carrying Trident nuclear weapons-equipped missiles, the Faslane base has been the target for many peace protests over the years. Several members of the group sat in front of the main gate and chained themselves together.

The 23 Swedes and 19 Finns were later released and they will not be facing prosecution.
