Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt has criticised Russian President Vladimir Putin’s recent comments about the former Soviet republic of Georgia.

In Luxembourg for a meeting of European Union foreign ministers, Bildt says Putin’s comparison of Georgia’s arrest of four alleged Russian spies to the tactics of the KGB is completely wrong.

Putin will be attending the EU summit in Finland on Friday, and Bildt has welcomed the common position he and his counterparts have adopted criticising Russia’s treatment of Georgia.
