Dinkelspiel Tipped To Become Trade Minister
Ulf Dinkelspiel, a former Conservative Cabinet member, has been tipped to become Sweden’s new trade minister, replacing Maria Borelius, who resigned over the weekend amid allegations of tax evasion.
Public broadcaster Swedish Radio says Dinkelspiel has the job, although the Prime Minister has denied this, saying an announcement will be made next week.
Dinkelspiel served as minister in charge of European affairs and foreign trade in a center-right government led by Carl Bildt between 1991 and 1994, helping Sweden prepare for membership in the European Union. As trade minister, he would again serve under Bildt, who is now foreign minister.
Dinkelspiel did not immediately return calls seeking comment.
