Royal Visit to US and Canada

Sweden's King Carl XI Gustaf and Queen Silvia

King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia will officially open the House of Sweden in Washington DC on Monday.

Sweden’s Foreign Minister Carl Bildt will also be on hand when the complex, which includes Sweden’s Embassy to the United States, is opened.

Along with the grand opening the House of Sweden will start an 18 month program of exhibitions, seminars, open houses and receptions, at which Swedish experts, designers, politicians, entrepreneurs and students will meet their American counterparts.

The first Theme of that 18 month period will be Design and Architecture.

After the opening, Sweden’s King and Queen will continue on to Canada for a state visit between the 24th and 27th of October.

The royal couple will visit Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City and Toronto.
