Pieces from the Vasa Found

Published onsdag 25 oktober 2006 kl 11.35

Several more pieces have been found from the royal warship Vasa, which sunk in Stockholm harbor in 1628.

The wreck of the Vasa was discovered on the sea bottom and salvaged in the late 50’s and early 60’s. The new discoveries were found by divers in one of the areas used while moving the ship to its final location in the Vasa Museum, and apparently broke off during the salvage operation.

They include supports for the railing and for the crow’s nest.
