Russian Remanded for Extradition

Published onsdag 25 oktober 2006 kl 11.43

A Swedish court has remanded in custody a Russian man Moscow wants extradited.

The 29 year old is suspected of involvement in the 1999 kidnapping of a press photographer in Chechnya. According to Amnesty International the photographer was shot dead by his kidnappers two months after his abduction.

The 29 year old has denied involvement, and says Russia wants him because he is the cousin of a murdered Chechen rebel leader.
