A Right to Television?

Published måndag 14 november 2005 kl 16.11

A regional rent tribunal is to determine whether tenants have an inherent right to television access.

The dispute follows the beginning of the transition to digital terrestrial television here.

In Gävle, north of Stockholm, the analog transmitters were turned off a couple of weeks ago. In at least one apartment building, tenants who bought new digital boxes still can’t see anything, because the old antenna on the building is too poor to receive the digital signals.

The newspaper ”Gävle Dagbladet” reports that the landlord has refused to spend the 400 dollars needed for a new antenna installation.
