Journalism 3.0 - Media Ecology and the Future

Publicerat tisdag 1 mars 2011 kl 11.24

This is an interactive web book project about media development, initiated by Swedish Radio’s Director General Mats Svegfors and Deputy Director General Cilla Benkö. The aim of the project is to arouse debate around the subject of media development, not to instruct. The book was first presented in Swedish in November 2010 (Swedish title: Journalistik 3.0 – Medieormen ömsar skinn). We now would very much like to continue the discussion internationally.
Our starting point is not simply Swedish Radio but rather the world of media in general. It’s about journalism, democracy, technology and media habits. It’s about the serpent of our age, shedding its skin.

How should one go about reading this book? Well, with open eyes to be sure—or ears for those who choose to listen to audio of the authors reading the chapter summaries. There’s a chapter sequence for those who want to read the book in the same order that it was written, but it works just as well to click your way through the chapter titles and choose sections according to subject area. The first chapter – Where Does Democracy Take Place? – introduces many key issues while the final chapter – The Synthesis: Journalism 3.0 – contains some conclusions.

What do you think about what we’ve written in Journalism 3.0 – Media Ecology and the Future? Are we right or wrong? Have we missed something important? Give us your comments so we can continue the discussion!Debate is the entire purpose behind the book—we want the picture of the ongoing development of media to be as clear as possible.

You may leave your comments in the Comments field or mail them to our editor, Cecilia Djurberg.
