Hallandsåsen - A look back through the tunnel that kept running into trouble
Tor 17 dec 2015 kl 16:30
It took 23 years to build and killed hundreds of cows and fish in the process. This week we look back at one of the most scandal-plagued projects in Swedish history, the tunnel through Hallandsåsen.

The tunnel finally opened for regular traffic on December 13, 16 years behind schedule. The project suffered a number of setbacks since it was started in the 1990's, the worst of which in 1997 when a chemical sealant leaked out into the ground water and poisoned livestock in the area.

In this episode of Radio Sweden weekly, we visit some of the towns surrounding the Hallandsås ridge and ask people living north and south of the tunnel how the infamous construction project has affected them and what they think about the project today.
