Baltic Sea Festival 2013
For the eleventh time Berwaldhallen opens it´s doors for world class singers and musicians during the Baltic Sea Festival. One of the highlights is Mozart's "The Magic Flute" at the Drottningholm Court Theatre in a performance with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Swedish Radio Choir and Music Director Daniel Harding. Together with tenor Andrew Staples, Daniel Harding designed a version where a narrator moves the story forward.
This year we are also pleased to welcome the Royal Opera Orchestra and Royal Opera Chorus in the festival’s opening concert with Esa-Pekka Salonen, presenting Romeo and Juliet by Hector Berlioz.
The end of the festival is dedicated to Valery Gergiev and the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra. Four different pianists will be performing four different piano concertos by Rodion Sjtjedrin and the festival’s finale is a magnificent Stravinsky program: Petrushka, The Firebird and The Rite of Spring.
During the Baltic Sea Festival you can also enjoy the Swedish Radio Choir in an exciting collaboration with filmer Jesper Kurlandsky, Charlotte Engelkes’ performance Miss Very Wagner, two Beethoven Symphonies with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and Esa-Pekka Salonen, an evening of classical Persian music, and much, much more.
